History

STVC was founded in 2004 in response to the high rate of homicides in the Buffalo area. Determined community members first met at a United Way location. Their focus on working directly with youth remains a foundational approach of STVC today. The organization has partnered with many local groups over the years. The red stop-sign logo has become a trusted symbol to people throughout Buffalo neighborhoods.

STVC has contributed to the creation of other important, impactful community organizations over the years. These include WAVE, Buffalo United Front and Mothers Against Violence.
