We aim to reduce violence and foster safer neighborhoods in Buffalo, New York through youth engagement and community outreach. Our Street Engagement Team works directly with at-risk youth, including gang-affiliated individuals, providing connections to essential services, resources, and community support. In collaboration with local partners, including the Buffalo Police Department (BPD), we ensure that updates and interventions are timely, accurate, and address critical needs within targeted areas.
We use the Cure Violence model, which treats violence as a public health issue and an epidemic. This framework involves interrupting conflicts and changing norms, with education generally being delivered by credible messengers, namely people from the community often with lived experiences of violence.
